At the entrance of Bilbao from the heights of Miraflores, following the course of river Ibaizabal, we find the Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacro. Situated in an ancient convent from the XVIth century, it houses a number of sculptures, gold articles and liturgical ornaments, among which some ancient artworks from XIIIth century and thirteen English Gothic alabaster.
From the museum, we will take Atxuri street, passing on the right side the School of Arts and Crafts that once was the ancient Civil Hospital of Bilbao and on the left side the church of San Antón, built in the XVth century. We will then take Ronda street to get to the Portal de Zamudio, from where we can see the Arkeologi Museoa. The museum, that is also a research centre for the past of Biscay, offers the visitor the possibility to travel in time to discover the history of the territory.
Once visited the museum, we will go back to the Plaza de Unamuno. Another possible choice is to visit two little museums. One of them is the Museo de Pasos de Semana Santa. Located only a few meters away, the museum houses a rich exhibition of pasos, dioramas and collections from different brotherhoods. The Museo Taurino de Bilbao, located in the bull ring, shows eight general sequences about the history of bullfighting.
