Uribe Costa
We start our tour taking BI2101 road towards the coastal village of Bakio, known for txakoli and surf. There we should visit Txakolingunea, a recently opened space aiming to promote and explain the history and characteristics of a product with its own special character: txakoli. In addition to that, an impressive 360◦ projection will get us closer to the historical and cultural reality of this coastal village.
To leave Baio, we will take BI3152 and then BI3151 to get to Plentzia. This route will allow us to enjoy the views over the coast and to visit the remains of Lemoiz nuclear central and the picuresque town of Armintza.
After Gorliz, we will arrive to the town of Plentzia. There the Museo Plasentia de Butrón awaits us. Situated in the old town, one of the best preserved of Biscay, the museum displays in two floors different elements of Plentzia s history, especially miniatures and paintings of boats, votive offerings and biographies of distinguished sailors of the village. Plentzia is also an excellent place to have a meal in any of the restaurants that offer traditional cuisine made with products from the sea.
From Plentzia we take BI2122 to go to the village of Berango. In Berangoeta exhibitions hall we can find an interpretation centre of the Iron Ring. This spaces holds a big exhibition with all kind of information, such as maps, old newspapers, banners, flags, miniatures and photographs. Both the explanatory panels and the objects exhibited - one of the most important collections on this subjects - are courtesy of the Asociación Sancho de Beurko, devoted to the research of the Civil War in Euskadi.
