Busturialdea and Uribe Kosta
Taking BI-635 road, we will get to the village of Gernika-Lumo. There are regular and frequent Bizkaibus and Euskotren lines that communicate Bilbao and Biscay with the town. Our first stop will be the Museo Euskal Herria, which is situated next to the Assembly Hall and has a garden and a parking at the rear of the building. The Museo Euskal Herria is the best window to display and explain the history, customs, religiosity, myths, arts, sports, gastronomy and millenary language of Basque people.
From Gernika we will follow again BI635 road to get to Bermeo. By public transport, there regular, frequent and practical services of train (Euskotren) and bus (Bizkaibus). Both the railway station and the bus station are situated in the very centre of the village, next to Lamera park, right in the port of Bermeo.
Right in middle of the urban landscape that we can contemplate from the docks of the old harbour, the Ercilla Tower houses the Arrantzaleen Museoa, a museum dedicated to fishermen and their universe. The tower, which has recently been restored and refurbished (2014), is a must-see. fromoutside, we will enjoy fine views over the port.
After that, we can taste some pincho or grab a snack in one of the fine restaurants of the village.
In the afternoon, we will set out towards Bakio by road BI-3101. On our way, we will admire the magical landscape of Gaztelugatxe, with the chapel of San Juan on the the top. In Bakio, we must visit the recently opened Txakolingunea, in which we will discover the history and characteristics of a product with its own special character: txakoli. In addition to that, an impressive 360◦ projection will get us closer to the historical and cultural reality of this coastal village.
